STRATO online storage plans
The entry personal plan, HiDrive 100 GB, is for one user with a modest collection of documents, photos and files. Larger single-user plans such as HiDrive 500 GB, HiDrive 1 TB and HiDrive 2 TB provide room for bigger libraries and backups. HiDrive 2 TB Family offers the same storage as the largest personal tier but supports up to five users, making it the household option.
HiDrive Business plans increase both pooled storage and user seats: HiDrive Business 1 TB includes five users, while the larger tiers expand capacity and seats for teams. These plans add permissioned shared folders and online document collaboration. Cyber Protect Basic and Security Plus are different from HiDrive: they provide backup and device management, with Security Plus adding broader security features. HiDrive Object Storage is for businesses using S3-compatible tools and APIs, not ordinary desktop file syncing.
What stands out about STRATO storage
STRATO says HiDrive data is stored in EU data centres, and its data centres are in Germany. The company also describes them as ISO 27001-certified. HiDrive works through a browser, desktop sync software and mobile apps, with support listed for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Link sharing can include passwords, expiry dates and download limits; STRATO says shared downloads are automatically virus-scanned.
HiDrive encrypts stored files using AES-128 and secures transfers; two-factor authentication is available. Optional end-to-end encryption is described by STRATO as zero-knowledge, but its dedicated encrypted folder is supported on Windows desktop, not macOS or Linux. Mobile apps can view that folder. Some features, including end-to-end encryption and device backup, are optional on personal plans.
BackupControl lets HiDrive users schedule or create snapshots and restore selected files, folders or a full snapshot. Automatically created older backups are reduced over time; manual snapshots remain until deleted. STRATO does not confirm general file version history for every tier. Independent testing has reported slow sync performance, and reviewers have noted that the interface and collaboration tools can feel less polished than leading consumer drives.

STRATO promotes introductory rates on some HiDrive and Cyber Protect offers; the standard recurring rate applies after the introductory period. Terms and billing options vary by plan, and longer commitments may have different promotions from shorter billing options. HiDrive offers monthly billing as well as term choices.
