How we ranked these CDN networks
We ranked providers by their listed total number of PoP locations and included only those that list a PoP in the Netherlands. This page’s “fastest” topic is therefore a comparison of network footprint, not a speed test: the listings do not report measured response times, throughput or latency. A larger count cannot prove that a particular visitor will get a faster page load.
More listed locations can mean more opportunities to serve cached content closer to users, but the count does not show how locations are distributed or how much capacity they have. We also note protocols, origin shield and cache features to help you compare capabilities. Use this 2026 ranking to build a shortlist, then consider your audience and requirements.
1. EdgeNext CDN
EdgeNext leads with 1,222 listed PoP locations across 74 countries, including a Dutch PoP. It is the strongest pick here if your first criterion is the largest listed footprint. Its regions span North and Latin America, Europe, Russia and the CIS, Asia, China, the Middle East and Africa. Origin shield adds a layer between the edge network and your origin.
EdgeNext lists HTTP/2, dynamic content acceleration, support for large and small files, and stale-content serving. It also supports video on demand, live video and WebSockets. HTTP/3 is not listed.
- Strengths: Highest listed footprint; Dutch PoP; origin shield; broad regional coverage; API, cache purge and stale-content support.
- Limits: HTTP/3 is not listed. HTTPS on your own domain and your own SSL certificate are also not listed.
Choose EdgeNext if location count, origin shield or video delivery matters most. Check its HTTPS options if you need HTTPS on a custom domain.
2. Tencent Cloud CDN
Tencent Cloud lists 1,140 PoP locations across 26 countries and a Dutch PoP, placing it second by count. Its total is close to EdgeNext’s, though it lists fewer countries. Coverage includes North and Latin America, Europe, Asia, China and the Middle East. HTTP/2, dynamic content acceleration and support for large and small files are listed.
The provider also lists video on demand and live video, WAF and DDoS protection. You can purge everything or purge by folder. HTTPS on your own domain and your own SSL certificate are listed. HTTP/3, origin shield and stale-content serving are not listed.
- Strengths: Second-highest PoP count; Dutch PoP; own-domain HTTPS; own SSL certificate; API, logs and video delivery.
- Limits: HTTP/3, origin shield and serve-stale support are not listed; locations span 26 countries.
Consider Tencent Cloud if footprint and custom-domain HTTPS are priorities. If you require origin shield or HTTP/3, account for those omissions.
3. BytePlus CDN
BytePlus lists 840 PoP locations across 26 countries, including the Netherlands. It ranks third by count and lists HTTP/3 as well as HTTP/2. Origin shield, dynamic content acceleration and edge computing are also included in its feature set.
Other listed features include video on demand and live video, WebSockets, WAF, DDoS protection, geo-blocking, and support for large and small files. BytePlus supports cache purging and serve-stale behaviour. Changes are listed as taking two minutes to propagate; that is not a measure of end-user delivery speed. Push or upload support is not listed.
- Strengths: Dutch PoP; HTTP/3; origin shield; edge computing; WebSockets; stale-content serving; own-domain HTTPS.
- Limits: Smaller footprint than the two providers above; push or upload is not listed; incoming traffic charges are indicated.
Pick BytePlus if HTTP/3 and edge computing matter and its footprint suits your audience. Check the incoming-traffic charging arrangement as part of your evaluation.
4. Cloudflare CDN
Cloudflare lists 309 PoP locations across 121 countries and has a Dutch PoP. Its location total is below the first three, but it lists the most countries among these five. That is broader country coverage by this measure, not the highest raw count. Cloudflare lists HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, dynamic content acceleration and edge computing.
Its listed features also include WAF, DDoS protection, WebSockets, video on demand, live video, own-domain HTTPS and image optimisation. You can purge everything or individual files. Changes are listed with zero-minute propagation, which is a configuration figure rather than proof of faster delivery. Origin shield, serve-stale support and log files are not listed.
- Strengths: Dutch PoP; 121 countries; HTTP/3; edge computing; own-domain HTTPS; image optimisation and a status page.
- Limits: 309 listed locations; origin shield, serve stale and log files are not listed.
Cloudflare suits you if country spread, HTTP/3 and its edge or image features matter more than maximum raw PoP count. Check the available options if you rely on origin shield or provider-listed logs.
5. CDNvideo
CDNvideo lists 204 PoP locations across 63 countries, including a Dutch PoP. It has the smallest location count in this ranking, while its listed regions cover North and Latin America, Europe, Russia and the CIS, Asia, China, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa. Origin shield, dynamic content acceleration and support for large and small files are listed.
CDNvideo lists HTTP/2, video on demand and live video, along with WAF, hotlink protection and geo-blocking. It supports purging everything or by folder and can serve stale content. HTTP/3, DDoS protection, push or upload, and log files are not listed. Phone and email support and 24/7 availability are listed.
- Strengths: Dutch PoP; origin shield; stale-content support; broad regional coverage; phone and email support.
- Limits: Lowest PoP count in this top five; HTTP/3, DDoS protection and own SSL certificates are not listed.
Choose CDNvideo if its video features, origin shield and support options fit your project and its footprint is sufficient. It is a weaker fit if you require the most locations or listed DDoS protection.
CDNs that narrowly missed the list
Bunny CDN lists 119 PoP locations across 81 countries and a Dutch PoP, fewer than any ranked provider. It also lists HTTP/2, image optimisation and flexible purge options, but did not make the top five by location count.
Gcore lists 104 PoP locations across 78 countries and a Dutch PoP. HTTP/3, edge computing and own-domain HTTPS are listed, but its footprint is smaller than those of the five picks.
How to choose a CDN by footprint
Start with where your users are, not the biggest number on the page. Compare listed countries and regions with your audience locations; a high total does not show how many PoPs serve a particular market. If visitors are concentrated in a few countries, coverage there may matter more than the worldwide count.
Next, identify required features. BytePlus and Cloudflare list HTTP/3; the other three list HTTP/2 but not HTTP/3. EdgeNext, BytePlus and CDNvideo list origin shield. All five list live video and video on demand. EdgeNext does not list HTTPS on your own domain, while the other four do.
Then check cache controls, security and operational needs: purge scope, stale-content behaviour, logs, support, DDoS protection and geo-blocking. Treat this 2026 ranking as a footprint shortlist, verify current service details and test your own routes before moving production traffic. PoP count is a clue about reach, not a promise of lower latency.
Frequently asked questions
Does this ranking identify the fastest CDN?
No. The ranking compares listed PoP counts among CDNs that list a Dutch PoP; it does not use measured speed or latency data. A larger footprint can offer more locations from which to serve cached content, but it cannot tell you how quickly a specific user’s request will be handled. Check the listed capabilities and test the routes that matter to your audience.
Why is a Dutch PoP required for the ranking?
This page compares providers that list a point of presence in the Netherlands, which makes the shortlist relevant if you need a Dutch edge location. Meeting that condition does not mean every request from the Netherlands will use that PoP, nor does it guarantee a particular response time. The ranking then sorts qualifying providers by their total listed PoP locations.
Why does EdgeNext rank above Cloudflare when Cloudflare covers more countries?
The ordering is based on raw listed PoP locations, not the number of countries. EdgeNext lists 1,222 locations in 74 countries, while Cloudflare lists 309 locations in 121 countries. Cloudflare therefore has broader country coverage by this measure, but EdgeNext has the larger total location count used for the ranking.
Which ranked CDNs list HTTP/3?
BytePlus CDN and Cloudflare CDN list HTTP/3. EdgeNext, Tencent Cloud CDN and CDNvideo list HTTP/2, but HTTP/3 is not listed for them. This is a comparison of the protocols stated by the providers, not a speed result. If HTTP/3 is a requirement for your deployment, confirm its availability for the service and configuration you plan to use.
Does a higher PoP count guarantee lower latency?
No. PoP count describes the size of a listed footprint, not the route, capacity or response time for an individual request. Your results can depend on where your users are, what content is cached and how traffic reaches the edge. Use the count to narrow your options, then evaluate performance with your own traffic and target regions.
What should I compare after using this 2026 ranking?
Match the listed regions to your audience, then check protocol support, origin shield, cache purging, stale-content handling, TLS options and security features. Consider video delivery and support needs if they apply to your project. Before changing production traffic, verify the current service details and test representative routes; this ranking is a footprint comparison rather than a measured speed test.
