ScalaHosting VPS plans: Build or Config?

Build #1 is the entry point for a workload that needs managed server operations, with 2 vCPU cores, 4 GB RAM and 50 GB NVMe storage. Builds #2 and #3 add resources for growing sites or applications, while Build #4 reaches 12 cores, 24 GB RAM and 200 GB NVMe for more demanding workloads.

Config #1 starts with the same core and memory allocation as Build #1, but leaves server administration to you. Config #2 and #3 provide more headroom, and Config #4 reaches 16 cores, 32 GB RAM and 240 GB NVMe. Both ranges also offer custom configurations and scaling, so you can choose resources for your workload rather than treating the preset tiers as the only options.

What stands out about ScalaHosting VPS?

The key distinction is management. ScalaHosting says its managed Builds include setup, monitoring, software maintenance, troubleshooting and hosting-related technical help. The Config plans give you root access and control, but routine server administration and software maintenance are your responsibility; ScalaHosting limits its help to initial configuration and data-centre-related downtime.

Build plans include SPanel, ScalaHosting’s own hosting and server-management panel. cPanel is available as a premium add-on rather than the default. Config includes a client area for essential server operations; SPanel can be requested, and cPanel licensing is separate. Both ranges list NVMe storage, root access and a dedicated IPv4 address. ScalaHosting describes its VPS network as having multiple 10 Gbps uplinks, but does not identify a specific processor model for each plan.

Managed plans include automatic remote daily backups, but ScalaHosting’s documentation differs on how many daily restore points are retained. For Config, snapshots are listed, but scheduled, user-restorable backups are not confirmed as included by default. Managed plans also include SShield security monitoring; ScalaHosting describes Cloudflare integration as providing caching and DDoS mitigation. Locations include countries across Europe, as well as the United States, Singapore and Australia, although not every location is confirmed for every configuration.

Introductory prices and renewals

ScalaHosting displays introductory and renewal terms separately: the introductory rate applies to the initial billing term, while renewal is at the regular rate. Longer-term selections affect the displayed introductory rate, and monthly billing choices are available; the listed plans have a one-month minimum commitment. New clients may request a full refund within thirty days, subject to the provider’s terms, or a partial refund for unused service after activation. Cancellation must be submitted through the client dashboard and can take up to seven days to process.
