About PlanetHoster

PlanetHoster Inc. was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Laval, Canada. The company describes itself as independent and says it manages its technical operations and infrastructure in-house. It does not identify a parent company or the people who own it in the company information available for this guide.

PlanetHoster is known for The World hosting platform, managed HybridCloud environments and its in-house N0C control panel. It also offers domain registration and related internet services.

PlanetHoster services

Shared and semi-dedicated web hosting

The World range includes Projet Web Standard, Plus and Ultra, as well as configurations for multiple projects. These plans are aimed at websites that need a managed hosting environment rather than a separately configured cloud server. Our comparison lists features such as NVMe SSD storage, daily backups and the N0C control panel on the shared plans.

Managed cloud hosting

HybridCloud provides managed environments with reserved resources on private cloud infrastructure. It is intended for projects needing more dedicated resources and administration than a typical shared hosting plan. PlanetHoster describes these as cloud environments, not whole physical bare-metal servers.

Domains, email, certificates and DNS

PlanetHoster sells domain registration and transfers, professional email associated with customer domains, and SSL/TLS certificate management. The company also provides DNS management, including Anycast DNS and anti-DDoS services. It describes Let’s Encrypt certificates as included with hosting.

Data centres and support

PlanetHoster says it operates seven data centres across Canada, France and Switzerland. Its published locations include Montreal, Paris and Lausanne, and customers can choose a location in Europe or Quebec depending on the service. The company lists 24/7 support by ticket, telephone and live chat, along with online documentation and a knowledge base.

Who PlanetHoster suits

PlanetHoster may suit website owners who want hosting, domains and related services from one provider, or businesses looking for a managed cloud environment. Its in-house panel is worth considering if you prefer a provider-specific interface over a more widely used control panel. Look elsewhere if your project requires root access or a whole physical server: HybridCloud does not promise either by default.
