About CyberGhost VPN
CyberGhost S.R.L. was founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 2011. Kape Technologies acquired the company in 2017; Kape was later taken private by Unikmind Holdings, which is wholly owned by Teddy Sagi. CyberGhost is best known for its consumer VPN service and an international network that includes servers identified for streaming and P2P activity.
What CyberGhost VPN sells
VPN subscriptions
The core service includes apps and configurations for computers, phones, TVs, streaming devices and routers. Supported platforms include Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, as well as Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chrome and Firefox. Subscribers can choose specialist server lists, use Smart DNS, and connect up to seven devices at once. The service supports WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPsec.
Dedicated IP
A dedicated IP address is available as an optional add-on used through the CyberGhost VPN app. This is a separate option from the shared VPN service.
Windows Security Suite
CyberGhost also offers an optional Windows Security Suite with antivirus, Privacy Guard and Security Updater tools.
Servers and support
CyberGhost lists VPN server endpoints in 100 countries and more than 125 locations, and notes that some locations are virtual. Its infrastructure includes RAM-only servers and NoSpy and colocated server facilities. These are VPN endpoints, not a confirmed list of physical data-centre addresses.
Support is available through 24/7 live chat, email and online requests or tickets. The company also provides an online account dashboard for managing subscriptions and devices, downloading apps and configuring services such as Smart DNS and Dedicated IP.
Who CyberGhost VPN may suit
CyberGhost is worth considering if you want a multi-device VPN with dedicated server options, broad platform support and optional privacy tools. It is not a web-hosting provider, so businesses looking for website hosting, virtual servers or domain services should compare those categories instead. Smart DNS also has limitations: it does not encrypt traffic or change your IP address, and CyberGhost says it is no longer compatible with streaming services.
