About Bluehost

Bluehost Inc. was launched by Matt Heaton in Provo, Utah, in 2003 and is now headquartered in Jacksonville, United States. The company says it grew from a hosting startup into a web-hosting and WordPress-focused platform. WordPress.org recommended Bluehost in 2005. Bluehost joined Endurance International Group in 2010; its company history says the 2021 Newfold Digital merger expanded its resources. Newfold Digital, LLC is its parent company.

Bluehost is best known for web hosting, particularly WordPress hosting, alongside domains and related website services.

What Bluehost sells

Web hosting

Options include shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, WooCommerce hosting, cloud hosting, managed and self-managed VPS, and dedicated servers. Shared and WordPress plans are aimed at websites that need hosting without managing a dedicated server; VPS, cloud and dedicated options serve projects seeking other levels of hosting and management.

Email hosting

Bluehost sells Professional Email and Google Workspace for domain-based email. Professional Email includes webmail and support for standard IMAP, POP3 and SMTP connections. Our comparison lists a plan with storage per user, mobile apps, spam and virus filtering, and calendar and contact features. Professional Email can be ordered on monthly or annual terms.

Domains

Domain services include registration, transfers, premium domains, privacy and protection, and expiration protection.

Website tools and services

Bluehost also offers website creation tools, SSL certificates, security, backups and SEO tools. Availability and features depend on the service selected.

Servers, data centres and support

Bluehost lists selectable data-centre locations for some hosting products, including locations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, India, the UK and the US. Options differ by product. Bluehost publishes a help centre and knowledge base, live chat and phone support. It says live chat is available around the clock, while phone support is available daily during stated Eastern Time hours.

Who Bluehost may suit

Bluehost may suit people who want hosting, domains and website services from one provider, as well as site owners seeking WordPress-focused options. It offers several hosting types, so buyers can compare managed and self-managed services. Look elsewhere if you need a specific data-centre location, email support commitment or refund condition that Bluehost has not confirmed for the product you plan to buy.
